Constitution Day, 16 September 2005
From the NAVAIR Human Resources Department
A new law mandates that, starting this year, federal agencies be required to provide educational and training materials concerning the United States Constitution to each employee each year. In addition, new employees will receive educational and training materials as part of the orientation materials provided to new employees.
Constitution Day officially is 17 September; however, since the 17th is a Saturday, the day officially will be observed on 16 September.
The Department of Defense Civilian Personnel Management Service (CPMS) is developing a suite of educational and training materials on the U.S. Constitution. Materials will include:
A 15-20 minute web-based training course, focusing on the relationship between the Constitution and Federal employment.
A dedicated website contains such supplemental information as: the full text of the Constitution; an explanation of Constitution Day; an historical timeline of Constitution events; and an extensive interactive “Question and Answer” feature.
Additional information is now available at the following sites:
· National Constitution Center
· U.S. National Archives & Records Administration
