Security has become a fundamental element of our everyday lives and has far reaching implications in the work place. Information Assurance is among NAVAIR’s top concerns. All NAVAIR personnel have a role to play in security risk awareness and the need to take responsible action with regard to risks.

Per naval message, Implementation of Annual Information Assurance (IA) Training for all Navy Information Systems Users, all NAVAIR users of DoD Information Systems are directed to receive initial IA Training as a condition of being granted system access. Thereafter, users must complete IA Refresher Training annually to maintain an active user account. The policy directs that non-compliance will result in termination of system access. AIR 7.4.2, IA Program Office, in conjunction with HRO, will monitor the system to ensure compliance.

Any personnel who use Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) systems must also complete the Special Security Officer (SSO) Navy basic SCI systems user course in addition to the DoD IA Awareness course. Each of these Computer Based Training courses takes approximately 45-90 minutes to complete.
