Anyone who has worked with Floyd Marshall here at Naval Air Depot Cherry Point knows he’s good at what he does, whether it is in regard to a travel claim or their government travel card.
Apparently, the word has gotten out.
On March 1, Marshall, the depot’s lead travel assistant, was awarded by the Department of the Navy as an Outstanding Agency Program Coordinator of the Year for 2004. Marshall is the first winner of this award from NADEP Cherry Point. His APC duties here include maintaining the travel card program for NADEP. In short, that means Marshall tracks cardholders’ travel card bills every month to ensure they are being paid on time. And when they’re not? Well, Marshall then reminds them of the late fees that are coming their way if they don’t pay their bills.
According to Marshall’s nomination by Bonnie S. Clark, National NAVAIR Government Travel Card Program manager, he is responsible for 1,110 accounts with approximately 600 active cardholders each month – and it is a collateral duty for him. Clark wrote, “… (Marshall) monitors the required reports and rarely has cardholders on the MAP reports. He is conscientious about training his cardholders and his (customers’) delinquency rate averages below two percent monthly. …”
This is not the first time that Marshall was recognized for achievement in this position. Marshall and his supervisor, Pamela Bayliss, both captured first place in the Quality of Service category of the NAVAIR Commander’s Awards in June as members of NAVAIR’s Government Travel Card Agency Program Coordinators Team.
