The L.T.E. Thompson Award was recently given to Clare F. (Dan) Kline, Jr. and Dr. C. Denton Marrs for their unparalleled dedication to the mission as indicated by assumption of responsibilities, efficiency of operation, attraction and development of the workforce, and many other efforts that indicate sincere commitment to the future of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division. In 1956, the Commander at the Weapons Division’s China Lake site established the L.T.E. Thompson Award as the center’s highest recognition for outstanding individual achievement. The success of China Lake was due in great part to the initial guidance of Dr. Thompson and to his skill in integrating military and civilian personnel into an enthusiastic, effective group.
