NAVAIR Depot Jacksonville and BAE Systems Sign Agreement
By Katherine Midyette, NAVAIR Depot Public Affairs Specialist
BAE Systems and NAVAIR Depot Jacksonville recently initiated a partnership to service the AN/ALQ-126 (B) Jamming and Deception Countermeasures System. Currently, the system is produced at the Depot’s Avionics Laboratory. The Commercial Service Agreement (CSA) will bring more than $11M in revenue to the Depot over the next five years and includes two additional five year options. The goal of the partnership is to make the AN/ALQ-126 more available to the Naval Fleet. Currently, BAE and the Naval Inventory Control Point-Philadelphia (NAVICP-P) have a Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract in place to supply the AN/ALQ-126(B) to the fleet.
Depot Commanding Officer CAPT David Beck “This is another opportunity for a partnership to work well for the fleet. In any good partnership, both sides win, both sides come out ahead, and certainly our partnership with BAE and the contract with NAVICP is going to be a winner. We’re going to play to our strengths, which for the Depot is fixing things. I know these things take a lot of work to get from concept to execution and this is where we get down to the execution.”
Mr. Gary Mucha, BAE senior vice president for operations commented “...We (BAE) are all about the mission, all about supporting the warfighter. That’s what we’re about and we want to do whatever that process is that makes that happen the best. This looks like a good win/win project.“
Beck concluded “I think we’ll make it a successful future together and the real acid test is how well these systems work on the airplanes around the world, as we do our missions, fighting the global war on terrorism and any other world events that require our military’s presence. It’s an important contract and, having spent a lot of time at sea, I know how important it is to get these ALQ-126s working and on the airplanes, functioning and ready to go.”
