Released by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) China Lake Public Affairs Office--On Thursday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. China Lake employees gathered in the base chapel to remember deceased civil rights leader and minister Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Guest speaker for the event was Kenneth Johnson, founding pastor of Eternal Life Christian Center (ELCC) in Oxnard, Calif.

Johnson has a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of La Verne, and a master’s degree in ministry from Pepperdine University.

He had a twenty-year career in the U.S. Navy before retiring as an avionics master chief. Presently, Johnson is a technical writer with Jacobs/Sverdrup Naval Systems Group.
