Released by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake, Calif.--

Michael Robinette, a Navy reservist, reported for active duty three months ago when he was assigned to the Warfighter Response Center at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake. The special assignment, as an active duty military, is scheduled to last six months.

Before arriving in the desert, 3rd Class Michael Robinette spent his active duty time at Naval Computers and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific in Waihiawa, HW. But on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, Robinette became a 2nd class petty officer when Capt. Mark Swaney, NAWCWD vice commander, presented him with his promotion.

In civilian life, the Kansas City, MO native has been a middle school teacher for six years. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Ottawa University and is currently studying to be an ultra-sound technician.

Robinette volunteers for Habitat for Humanity in Kansas City and provides information technology support for Heartland Mental Health and St. John/Holy Family Elementary School in Kansas City, Kansas in his spare time.
