MIDWAY MUSEUM PIECE This F-4 Phantom will be displayed on the USS Midway Museum at the Navy Pier in San Diego. The F-4 is the fourth aircraft painted by NAVAIR Depot North Island Aircraft Services for the Midway Museum; the others were an E-2 Hawkeye, an A-6 Corsair and an A-7 Intruder that are on the Midway. This particular aircraft has two sponsors: USS Constellation and USS Coral Sea. The pilots’ names stenciled beneath the cockpit on the Constellation side are Lt. Gary “Lobo” Freeborn and Lt. j.g. Bob “Lobo 2” Elliott. The names on the Coral Sea side are Lt. Cmdr. Darrell “Condor” Gary and Lt. Pete “Big Wally” Stevens.
