The 2003 NAVAIR Commander's Awards deadline for nomination submissions has been extended one week to Friday, May 21, 2004. The Commander’s Award, the highest team award within the Naval Air Systems Command, recognizes the achievements of teams that have successfully supported the main goals of the Command.
A Commander’s Awards ceremony will be held on June 28, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. where NAVAIR Commander Vice Admiral Wally Massenburg will formally recognize the winning teams.
A Commander’s Award will be presented for each of the following five categories:
· Program Management
· Logistics/Industrial
· Engineering, Testing and Technology
· Business Operations
· Quality of Service
Nominations for each category will be judged by the following evaluation factors:
· Balancing current and future readiness
· Reducing our costs of doing business
· Improving agility
· Ensuring alignment
· Implementing Fleet-driven metrics
· Improving total workforce environment
All NAVAIR teams from all sites are eligible, including technical and support teams.
Nomination packages and information on the nomination process are available in the Awards Toolkit located on the MyNAVAIR Web site (https://people.navair.navy.mil/awards.cfm) or from Keith Entzminger at 301-342-6862 or DSN 342-6862. Nominations may be submitted by the team leader or by any member of the team at the direction of the team leader. An original and four copies of the nomination package are required. Your local award routing procedures should be followed for submission of nominations.
Tips for completing nomination packages are as follows:
· Statements should be supported by facts and verifiable information.
· Acronyms and terminology specific to the team's submission should be spelled out and fully defined.
· Quantifiable metrics, such as savings and outcome measures, are especially desired.
· The nomination package must NOT contain any classified information.
· Include name, series, grade, military/civilian/contractor, (if military, include service/rank), competency/organization, command/business unit, DSN and commercial telephone numbers.
· Identify the team leader.
· Include any administrative staff members who supported the team, including secretaries.
· Ensure names of each team member are written as they should appear on certificates, if chosen as winner.
The Commander’s Awards winners are on permanent display in the atrium of the RADM William A. Moffett Building.
