Camera Phones: Follow the Security Procedures or You Won’t Be Able to Hear Them Now!
by Vicki Nagle
Recent technological advances have enabled photographic capabilities in cellular phones (also known as camera phones). Camera phones must adhere to the same stringent policy used for cameras or security violations will occur.
If you have or are going to purchase a cellular phone with photographic capabilities, please refer to your site’s photo policy for guidance on its use. For example, the photo policy at NAVAIR Patuxent River, Maryland, is to contact the Photo Lab and they will send someone with the proper authority to take the picture or you can apply for a photo pass. You are permitted to take pictures in common areas such as picnic areas, beach areas, the clubhouse and at the air show. The photo policy at NAVAIR Depot Cherry Point, North Carolina, is to contact the Photo Lab and they will send someone with the proper authority to take pictures or you can apply for a temporary photo pass.
Each site has a different Photo Policy, so please contact the Public Affairs Office at your site with any questions.
