About 100 China Lake retirees attended the annual Retiree-Alumni Appreciation Day held Sept. 25 at Michelson Lab. Scott O’Neil, NAWCWD executive director, and Andy Corzine, NAWCWD Research and Engineering’s technical deputy, kicked off the event with an update on the growing work force, and a message of appreciation for the retirees’ contributions to the success of China Lake. Ruth Hogan, manager of the Weapons & Armaments Implementation Center, talked about how the BRAC-related facilities will support the engineering force here, and reported that all construction projects are currently on schedule. To give a sample of the work currently going on, Dave Anderson talked about his work with counter improvised explosive devices, Mike Wirtz explained how the Digital Precision Strike Suite works, Felipe Jauregui discussed work at the Unmanned Systems Activity, and Greg Wheelock talked about unrestricted warfare concepts. To the retirees Jauregui said, “You set the foundation for everything we do and we appreciate it.”
