During a ceremony at NAF Atsugi, Japan, Vice Admiral Thomas Kilcline, Commander, Naval Air Forces, thanked the entire FRC-WESTPAC team for work completed in-theater from 2006 to 2008. The FRC-WESTPAC team completed 1,696 in-service repairs, 91 scheduled depot maintenance events, 230 aircraft modifications and 1,323 component repairs.

“This is a great day in our history,” said Cmdr. Don Simmons, commanding officer of FRC-WESPAC. “We are the first FRC to receive this honor. I am truly proud to lead this fine group of maintainers.”

FRC-WESTPAC originated in the mid-1950s as a division of Commander Fleet Air, Western Pacific. Today, the 200 member military and civilian team located at Atsugi, Australia, Korea, Okinawa, Guam, Singapore, Iwakuni and Afghanistan continue to provide essential aviation depot services to fleet units ashore and afloat from the northern Pacific westward to the eastern United States.
