Dwayne Heinsma, chief operating officer for the Systems Engineering Department, cuts the ribbon for the Weapon Systems Center for Integration (WSCI) Dec. 15, marking the completion of the first BRAC-related new construction project at China Lake. Joining him from left are NAWS Commanding Officer Capt. Jeffrey A. Dodson, NAWCWD Executive Director Scott O'Neil, NAWCWD Commander Capt. Mark Storch, and NAVFAC Assistant Operations Officer Capt. Martin Smith. The 23,000-square-foot facility will be the focal point for development and testing of weapon systems at China Lake. Employees working in the WSCI will support mission-level engineering and integration efforts. The facility has been designated as Building 00006 and consists of four computer labs, management suites, a conference area, cubicle areas and a collaborative work space. While at work, employees will also have the chance to improve their health on one of two treadmill-workstations set up in the WSCI. The community "walk-stations" are designed to allow employees to read e-mail and even perform other tasks while walking at a safe pace.
