Engineering the future: NAWCAD WOLF demonstrates rapid capability
NAWCAD WOLF hosted former NAWCAD Commander Rear Adm. John Dougherty IV for a capabilities discussion and tour May 30.
“As we move forward in our mission of deterring conflict by leaning in, being persistent, and applying constant pressure to deliver the readiness the warfighter needs to fight and win, we can only do that with the hard work of this workforce that directly ties capabilities to operational needs in the Fleet,” said Dougherty. “NAWCAD WOLF is a unique and critical asset deploying an empowered technical workforce making decisions at all levels to help us go fast delivering that capability.”
Dougherty recognized the hard work and determination of several members of the WOLF workforce who deployed to the Red Sea to troubleshoot and provide a solution for a critical capability over the holidays followed by a discussion focused on the command’s rapid engineering development, prototyping, and manufacturing capabilities.
“NAWCAD WOLF’s strength lies in our organic Lead System Integrator model that employs empowered government leaders coupled with a mix of both government and industry talent to enable consistent delivery of the products and capabilities needed to maintain the nation’s warfighting edge.” said NAWCAD WOLF Executive Director Blaine Summers.
Dougherty toured WOLF’s Integrated Command and Control and Intelligence Systems division, where command center capabilities were on display, followed by a tour of WOLF’s Presidential Helicopters lab, the Ship and Air Integrated Warfare division’s Aegis Radio Communication System and Unmanned Carrier Aviation spaces, and ended the tour with the Special Communication Mission Solutions division’s Special Communications Rapid Integration Facility, a production and assembly space that delivers command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions for large craft, commercial and militarized vehicles, and mobile communications supporting Navy and DOD customers.
NAWCAD WOLF develops and delivers airborne, shipboard, and shore-based organic solutions through rapid engineering, integration, installation, and sustainment for DOD, Navy, intelligence, and homeland security missions anywhere around the world.
