Ruth Fisher, an aircraft engine mechanic in the T64 engine shop at Fleet Readiness Center East, installs a compressor case and conducts clearance checks on a T64 engine. In 2018-2019, FRCE’s T64 team cleared a four-year backlog of aged work in progress – engines that had been inducted for repair or overhaul – and produced 46 engines this fiscal year. Despite challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic, the shop is on track to meet its fiscal 2020 production goal of 54 engines.
