Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) pneudraulics technician Matthew Umbel moves a stone over the bar during the atlas stone event at an amateur strongman competition. Umbel, who works in the Beyond Capable Maintenance Interdiction Shop at the FRCE detachment onboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, began training for strongman competitions less than a year ago, and has now qualified for the 2026 America’s Strongest Master competition, the strongman national championship for athletes age 40 and older.
