Sean Maher, an aircraft electrician on Fleet Readiness Center East’s (FRCE) UH-1N production line, utilizes a battery-powered generator while conducting checks on a UH-1N helicopter. FRCE’s UH-1N production line replaced diesel-powered generators with battery-powered generators, becoming the first adapter of this technology within the Naval Aviation community. This initiative was one of a host of FRCE environmental efforts recognized with the 2024 Secretary of the Navy Environmental Award – Sustainability/Industrial Installation.
