Capt. Jason Denney serves at the Direct and Time Sensitive Strike program manager.

A native of Pinedale, Wyoming, Denney is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate with a bachelor's degree in aeronautics and astronautics. He was designated as a naval flight officer in January 1999 and received initial F-14B Tomcat RIO training with the “Grim Reapers” of VF-101 at NAS Oceana, Virginia in March 2000.

Denney commanded the “Diamondbacks” of VFA-102 from April 2014 to July 2015 flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet while forward deployed to NAF Atsugi, Japan.  He made three deployments with Carrier Air Wing FIVE (CVW-5) onboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) where he conducted operations in 7thFleet including support of Operation Damayan, a humanitarian response to the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Republic of the Philippines.

His other sea duty assignments include the VF-32 “Swordsmen” onboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3 from 2000 to 2002 flying combat missions in support of Operation Southern Watch in the F-14B Tomcat.  In September 2007, he reported as a department head to the “Red Rippers” of VFA-11, again deploying onboard CVN 75, this time flying numerous combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the F/A-18F Super Hornet. 

Denney’s shore assignments include the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) cooperative program, where he earned a master's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio before proceeding to USNTPS in Patuxent River, Maryland in 2004.  He has served two tours with the VX-31 “Dust Devils” at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, California, first from 2005 to 2007 and again from 2012 to 2012 where he served as an F/A-18 developmental test project officer, VX-31 Operations department head, the F/A-18 and EA-18G advanced weapons laboratory military deputy and VX-31 executive officer. In September 2015, he reported to the F/A-18 and EA-18G program office (PMA-265) where he served as an integrated product team lead and deputy program manager for F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

From July 2019 to August 2023, Denney served as  PMA-265 program manager.  He most recently reported to the NAVAIR Sustainment Group and the military director.

He has logged more than 2,900 hours in over 25 different types of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters including the F-14A/B, F-15E, F-16D, F/A-18B/D/F, and Mirage 2000D.  His decorations include three Meritorious Service Medals, two Air Medals (Strike/Flight), two Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and numerous unit, campaign, and service awards.
