VIRGINIA Shipping/Unshipping Trainer (VA-Shipping)
The MRTS 3D® VA-Shipping application is the first of its kind and allows operators to work in a team-based setting to perform the shipping and unshipping of multiple ADCAP torpedoes to or from the torpedo room. By utilizing touch display panels, the simulator enables its operators to carry out all the steps to ship or unship a torpedo. By deploying simulators similar to Virginia Shipping, this mitigates the high safety risks associated with traditional training methods.
There is a high risk factor associated with novices training the shipping and unshipping procedures with live munitions. This particular application allows the evolution of operators to handle weapons safely by practicing procedures in a virtual environment.
Operators have the ability to use voice communication assets to virtually speak to each other across the weapons department. This application allows for the shipping or unshipping of up to 4 ADCAP torpedoes in 1 concurrent session. Future developments to this application will include pier operations, rigging and unrigging procedures, torpedo room tube loading and unloading procedures, dry transmission checks, and other features.
