DDG-1000 Integrated Power System (IPS)
The IPS is a complex system onboard the DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class ships, which are used by the U.S. Navy. IPS generates, distributes, and converts electrical power to support the operation of the DDG 1000 electrical systems and equipment, including High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) power. The system has an automated and intelligent capability to redistribute power across the ship in the event of loss of power.
The MRTS 3D® IPS Maintenance trainer simulates two equipment spaces: Main Machinery Room (MMR) 2 and MMR3. Within those equipment spaces, there are high-fidelity models of critical systems, such as the Power Conversion Module (PCM), Passive Filter Module (PFM), Power Electronics Module (PEM), and Switchboard (SWBD). The trainer supports maintenance through the removal and replacement of various electronic modules and troubleshooting fault scenarios for these systems. Operators are able to pull up the Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) and maintenance documents for these systems to ensure procedural compliance.
