Fleet Support Team Executive/Chief Engineer Fleet Readiness Centers, Naval Air Systems (ACTING)

MS. DARLENE MAZZONE, CIV

Ms. Mazzone is currently performing the duties of Fleet Support Team (FST) Executive. She commenced her tour with COMFRC as the Logistics Director for FST Headquarters (HQ) and has been serving as NAVAIR’s Deputy Technical Warrant Holder (TWH) for Maintenance since October 2019. She’s driven strategic change establishing the FST HQ Logistics Group across geographically dispersed sites. Recently, Ms. Mazzone was detailed to a special assignment as the Ford Class Carrier Deputy Program Manager, Level 1, for Automatic Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), where she stood up a sustainment ecosystem of fleet support, software support activity, and depot services.

In 2015, Ms. Mazzone served as the Technical Director (TD) of Aviation Readiness and Resources Analysis Department. As TD, she led multiple divisions for Business Operations, including Financial Resource Management, Data Science & Fleet Analytics, Total Asset Visibility, Information Technology & Cyber Security, Technical Data, and Innovative Solutions like Additive Manufacturing. From 2006 to 2015, Ms. Mazzone was chosen to serve as the Assistant Program Executive Officer, Logistics (APEOL) for the Program Executive Officer, Tactical (PEO(T)). In this role, she was the Division Head for TACAIR Programs totaling over $6.5B and served as a key advisor, ensuring logistics management and integration across the portfolio and was instrumental in the standup of Integrated Warfare Capability (IWC). 

Previously, Ms. Mazzone was appointed Product Support Team Lead (PSTL) for the P-8 Program, followed by Director of Logistics (DOL), overseeing the entire Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA) Community. She led innovative logistics concepts, earning the P-8 program recognition from the CNO and was responsible for the successful $4 Billion ACAT I program award. Her diverse experience includes serving as F/A-18D Royal Malaysian Air Force Assistant Program Manager, Logistics (APML) for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Deputy APML for Tactical UAVs, where she spearheaded integrating UAVs into Naval Aviation to include the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP). Ms. Mazzone commenced her government career with NAVAIR January 1995, holding several key positions. After completing tours with the H-53 Office and P-3 AIP Maintenance Planning, she qualified as an Aviation Maintenance Officer (AMO). She also served as a Budget Analyst within the O&M,N Comptroller Shop and as the H-60 Business Financial Manager.

Ms. Mazzone began her acquisition career in the late 1980s as Site Lead for U.S. Customs Service’s Drug Interdiction Vessel Maintenance Program in the Caribbean. There she stood up multiple sites responsible for life-cycle support of the Vessel Fleet. Ms. Mazzone attended Southern Illinois University, graduated with high honors from Southern New Hampshire University, earning two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. She’s also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) and Senior Executive Development Management Program (SEMDP).
