Inductive Ventures
Inductive Ventures, Inc., has invented and developed a new, green magnetic braking and electric taxi technology that is designed to meet current FAA/Military certification requirements for aircraft and rotorcraft applications. This is the first system that significantly reduces maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) cost by implementing the use of electric in-wheel motor/generators to provide braking capabilities while also recovering the kinetic energy of the aircraft during landing and increasing the ground maneuvering capability of the vehicle. IV uses magnetic induction forces to create safe and wear-free braking products that will disrupt old friction braking systems. IV has built and tested prototypes for the A320 and U-2 aircraft and is building a full scale prototype for F-18 Hornet fighter jet.
Brakes are mechanical devices that inhibit movement, and they can be found throughout the world in many different industries. Most brakes are made up carbon and use friction as the means of slowing the vehicle or device. These friction based systems offer limited performance benefits including reduced braking capabilities due to brake fade, thermal loading issues, and generally higher operational, maintenance, repair and overhaul costs over the life cycle of the braking system.
IV's technology has the potential to disrupt and revolutionize the method by which we brake all kinds of systems across the globe including airplanes, automobiles and elevators. The technology has attributes of compact size, no maintenance and the ability to cost effectively integrate directly into existing spaces.
