Everyone in the rechargeable battery industry is trying to develop better performing batteries.
All the major companies such as Tesla, Ford, Toyota, Samsung to name a few are currently on the fast track to developing solid state batteries. However, all indications are that “Solid State batteries” will be available to mass market two to three years down the road.

Kotuku Inc, in cooperation with engineers from South Korea has developed Solid state battery and they are already being marketed and tested in various applications in South Korea.

One of the drawbacks with lithium-ion batteries that are currently being used is that they are susceptible to becoming flammable and explosive when exposed to heat and impact. Solid state batteries do not have that problem.
