Tamr’s patented data unification platform is designed to index large numbers of sources and volumes of data and publish clean, accurate unified data sets. The system employs machine learning enriched by human expertise to perform three core functions: Connecting disparate data sources across an organization to align relevant datasets to a unified schema; Consolidating the unified dataset through deduplication and entity resolution; and, Classifying (or Categorization) records into a taxonomy for downstream analysis. We are agnostic to data format, source, as well as location (cloud, prem, private cloud). Use cases span normalizing internal CRM/ERP systems to financial services and supply / logistics.

Our biggest differentiators are: (1) we solely focus on data mastering and (2) we remove the need for the If / Else statements by utilizing human guided machine learning. After the data scientist provides the left/right lateral limits, SMEs are asked a series of questions, which trains our algorithm.

Use Case Callouts

Geospatial Conflation. Contract 2014-14031000011, Customer: CIA, support NGA. High level problem to be solved: points of interest (e.g. shoal, lighthouse etc) are not the same entity/location across different charts/projections in use. Tamr gained access to numerous data sets from NGA, conducted data prep and cleansing, and then processed at scale (millions of records) so an object on Chart/Projection A was the same when viewed at a micro level on Chart/Projection E and vice versa. We can also normalize across projections and coordinate inputs (DD,DDM, DMS, MGRS, UTM etc).
