Mr. Derrick Hu

Derrick Hu is the Deputy Director for the Office of Small Business Programs, Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWCWD). A native of Hawaii, Derrick is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with experience in the Logistics career field.  Derrick is a graduate of Musician’s Institute of Technology (MI) in Hollywood, CA. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), and Master’s Degree in Administration from CSUB.

He was hired as an intern for the Navy Acquisition Intern Program (Civilian Careers in Procurement Program) supporting the NAWCWD Contracts Competency. Derrick graduated from the Intern Program and worked in Contracts with experience in “cradle to grave” contracting as a Contract Specialist and Contracting Officer. He also worked as a Procurement Analyst supporting many of the DoD’s Electronic Acquisition Initiatives.

Derrick has worked as a Small Business Professional with the NAWCWD since 2010.
