Atlantic Ranges & Targets
Atlantic Ranges & Targets (ART) provides services at sea, on land, and in the air across the eastern seaboard, and at defense and industry ranges and test sites across the globe. ART provides the range facilities, maritime platforms, targets, and instrumentation for a safe and secure test and training environment.
ART schedules and controls air, land, sea, and associated range operating areas and provides range resources and threat-representative target presentations for conducting research, development, test, evaluation, experimentation and training for naval aviation and warfighters.
ART collaborates across the DOD and industry to provide command and control expertise and data collection and analysis tools for flight test events and major live, virtual and constructive experimentation events.

The Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) is the Navy’s East Coast open-air test range. ATR provides the airspace, data-gathering equipment, and instrumentation for aviation and weapons systems test and evaluation, warfighter training, and experimentation events.
Local tests are conducted in 2,700 square miles of restricted airspace in and around the Chesapeake Bay with altitudes up to 85,000 feet. An additional 57,000 square miles of air and sea space is also available offshore over the Atlantic Ocean from New Jersey to the Carolinas, where altitude is unlimited. Real-time connectivity and partnerships with other defense entities allow ATR to extend its range and capabilities.

Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) provides targets and marine services required to conduct aircraft and weapons research, development, test, evaluation, experimentation, and warfighter training events.
Major East Coast activities in Maryland, Virginia and Florida provide staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities to create realistic threat simulations in air, land, and sea environments. Technical experts work closely with customers to design, develop, and modify target systems and deploy a range of vessels to support unique maritime requirements.
