Developmental Employees

NAWCAD facilitates a developmental employment program for a wide array of entry and early level STEM professionals.

NAWCAD offers a professional development program for entry level STEM professionals called the Engineer & Scientist Developmental Program (ESDP). The goal of the ESDP is to prepare employees to assume positions of substantial technical responsibility and to achieve journey-level knowledge and capabilities within their technical field.

The ESDP includes rotational assignments to enhance NAWCAD organizational knowledge and technical experiences, training to develop professional and corporate knowledge, and on-the-job experience to increase technical skill sets. Successful completion of the ESDP in these areas is recognized by structured developmental promotions at recommended intervals during the program timeframe. The ESDP is typically five years in length, however an participant's degree level and amount of post-degree experience may shorten the ESDP program timeframe and program requirements.

Entry-level STEM professionals have the opportunity to support and participate in NAWCAD’s Professional Development Council. This council is run by developmental employees who organize and coordinate professional and networking activities for the NAWCAD developmental workforce. Employees may participate in the council through joining one of the following committees: fundraising, mentoring, morale retention and networking, recruitment, rotations, tours and brown bag engagements.
