Low Probability of Intercept Altimeter (LPIA) is designed to replace existing APN-194
RT and interface with existing height indicators, antennas, cables, and mounts.
LPIA provides:
- Digital, modular radar altimeter
- Drop-in replacement for existing altimeters
- Use of existing peripheral equipment to minimize impact to the aircraft
- Improved performance, supportability and reliability
- Uses Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum as well frequency hopping
- and power management techniques to reduce aircraft detectability
