Ground Proximity Warning System/Terrain Awareness Warning System

Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) is a safety backup system designed to reduce
Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT) by warning the pilot of imminent impact with
the ground and providing a directive aural and/or visual response. GPWS/TAWS are
safety-backup systems, NOT performance aids. The GPWS/TAWS Software Development
Team is CMM Level 3 assessed and has over ten years of experience.
