Background:
The creation of the Commonality Opportunity Review Process (CORP) is part of an
Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) and Headquarters, Marine Corps (HQMC)
initiative to focus on and promote common system solutions across the United States
Navy and the United States Marine Corps aviation platforms as a method to promote
interoperability, reduce Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) total ownership costs,
and reduce our warfighter’s logistics footprint. The process was developed by a
cross representation of NAVAIR/PEO team members, led by a NAVAIR Master Black Belt,
utilizing Design For Lean Six Sigma methods. This standardized process will improve
the evaluation of common solutions across the Naval Air Systems Command and Naval
Aviation PEOs by ensuring potential common solutions are identified, reviewed, and
pursued when supported by Business Case Analysis and beneficial to the NAE. This
process will improve information flow across all stakeholders and result in optimized
resource allocation decisions. The benefits associated with this process will be
applicable to all Naval Aviation programs....
If you have an idea for a cross-platform avionics capability complete the Commonality Opportunity Candidate Form and submit to
PMA209 for review.
