Advanced Mission Computer and Displays (AMC&D)
WRA
Features
Advanced Mission Computer (AMC):
Power PC Based Open System Architecture (currently VME based)
Increased computing power to support F/A-18E/FG, AV-8B and other Navy platform roadmaps
Hosts platform-provided Higher Order Language (HOL) OFPs
Provides common Application Program Interfaces (API) to all platforms
Common set of SRAs allows tailored WRA configurations based on platform needs
Standard API enables controlled technology infusion with minimal OFP impact
Fibre Channel Network Switch (FCNS):
Enables high speed fibre channel fabric-based data network
Provides 16 full-duplex ports (1.0625 GBaud each direction)
Fiber Optic based with 1553 interface for control and maintenance
Compliant with fibre channel standards (Class 2 & 3) (2.1 microsecond latency)
High (90 MByte/s requirement, but have sustained throughput of 94MB/s) port-port throughput with low (2 ?s) latency
Supports both data and video transfers
Advanced Multi-Purpose Display (AMPD):
Replaces obsolete CRT-based displays used in legacy aircraft (typically with AYK-14 based systems)
Uses state-of-the-art Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD)
Full color, high density displays that are day, night and NVIS compliant
5x5 display utilized in F/A-18E/F/G Models
8x10 display utilized in F/A-18F/G model aft cockpit includes direct digital video input
Provides symbology, raster and hybrid display formats
Supports mono and full color mode
Advanced Multi-Purpose Color Display (AMPCD):
Form/Fit/Function replacement for obsolete MPCD used in the AV-8B and F/A-18C/D
Leverages heavily of off 5x5 AMPD Design used in F/A-18E/F
Supports stroke, raster and hybrid modes
Full color, high density display that is day, night and NVIS compliant
Supports mono and full color modes
