DISCUSSION:
An Eastern Pacific trough will move over California early tomorrow, freshening winds and cooling temperatures to the mid 60s through the weekend. High pressure rebounds on Sunday, resulting in mostly clear skies and light northerly winds across the Desert Southwest. Another upper level trough will deepen over California on Monday, increasing winds and high clouds, with a slight chance of precipitation for the local area on both Monday and Tuesday.
TONIGHT:
VALID 2000 FRIDAY, 10 FEBRUARY 2012
Clear skies becoming partly cloudy with scattered high clouds overnight (FEW100-110 FEW/SCT220-250). Winds southwest at 20 to 25 knots with gusts near, or slightly above 30 knots through near midnight, then southwest near 10 knots through early morning. Overnight low temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy skies (FEW100-120 FEW/SCT160-170 SCT/BKN240-260) with mainly thin cirrus. Light and variable morning winds become southwest at 10 to 15 knots with occasional gusts to 22 knots from late afternoon through mid evening. Winds remain southwest and decrease to 05 to 10 knots before returning to light and variable near sunrise. Afternoon high temperature in the mid 60s with overnight lows in the upper 20s.
OUTLOOK: Clear skies through Sunday, partly to mostly cloudy with transient high clouds Monday and Tuesday. Light breezes on Sunday become moderate and gusty southwest winds Monday and Tuesday afternoons. High temperatures cool from the mid 60s on Sunday to the low 60/upper 50s Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Overnight low temperatures in the high 20s Monday morning, mid 30s Tuesday, then fall to the upper 20s again early Wednesday morning.
