CDR Kevin S. Rice, Executive Officer, VX-30

Commander Rice is a 1998 graduate of Purdue University where he earned a BS in Aviation Technology and a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy.

After completing flight training, Commander Rice was attached to VP-10 in Brunswick, Maine in 2001. He deployed twice with the VP-10 Red Lancers as a P-3C pilot. Following sea duty, he reported as a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor Pilot with the VP-30 "Pro’s Nest" in Jacksonville, Florida in 2004. He then went back to sea in 2007 as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer “Shooter” onboard USS Ronald Reagan. During his time on Ronald Reagan he was the V-1 Division Officer and “Top-Cat”. He made two SEVENTH/FIFTH Fleet deployments during his time on USS Ronald Reagan. In 2010 he reported back to VP-30 as a student in preparation for his Department Head tour with the VP-4 Skinny Dragons. He reported as a Department Head to VP-4 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii later in 2010. During his time in VP-4 he made one SEVENTH Fleet deployment and served as the Senior Pilot and Maintenance Officer. Upon completion of his tour with VP-4 he transferred across the road to Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing-Two (CPRW-2) in 2012. While attached to CPRW-2 he served as the Government Flight Representative for the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance-Demonstrator program and the CPRW-2 Training Officer. Upon completion of his tour with CPRW-2 in 2015 he transferred to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center Norfolk and deployed to Sembach, Germany as the Director/Assistant Officer in Charge of the Warrior Transition Program. He later assumed the duties as Officer in Charge in October 2015. Commander Rice reported as the Executive Officer of VX-30 in Pt. Mugu, California in March 2016.

Commander Rice has logged over 2,700 military flight hours in fixed wing aircraft. He is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal (6 awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal as well as many other personal and unit decorations, to include two Humanitarian Service Medals. He is married with 2 children.
