| Fourteen students from Ridgecrest’s Sherman E. Burroughs High School were treated to a site visit at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, February 24, 2010 in celebration of African American History Month. Walter G. Martin, Deputy Director of the STANDARD Missile Project Office (pictured, far right) served as host for the occasion, inviting the students to consider careers in service to their country and community. “You are among the brightest and best at Burroughs High,” Martin said. “Everything you dream of accomplishing is possible and we support you.” Human Resource Specialist Kate George provided information about student educational employment programs, after which each student was matched with a Weapons Division mentor and given a first-hand look at work which supports the Warfighter. |
