China Lake - Ridgecrest
Point Mugu - Ventura County
From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
To: China Lake
- Take Interstate 405 North from the airport, over the Hollywood
Hills and across the San Fernando Valley.
- Then take Interstate 5 North a short distance to State Route
14.
- Remain on Hwy 14, through Palmdale, Lancaster, Mojave, and Red
Rock Canyon, until the Inyokern turnoff.
- Take Hwy 178 east through Inyokern to China Lake and Ridgecrest.
- Approximate Driving Distance: 160 miles.
To: Point Mugu - Coastal Route
- Exit LAX and proceed east on Century Blvd. to the San Diego freeway (I-405).
- Take I-405 north to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10), then west on the
I-10 to the Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1).
- Take Hwy 1 west towards Oxnard until you reach the offramp for Point
Mugu.
- The trip will take about 1 hour.
To: Point Mugu - Inland Freeway Route
- Exit LAX and proceed east on Century Blvd. to the San Diego freeway (I-405).
- Take I-405 north to the Ventura Freeway (Hwy 101), then west on Hwy 101
towards Ventura.
- At Camarillo, take Las Posas Road, south, directly to Point Mugu.
- Avoid the inland route during peak traffic hours (0700-1000, 1500-1800).
The trip will take about 1hr, 15 min.
From Burbank Airport
To: China Lake
- Take Interstate 5 North from the airport until intersecting State Route
14.
- Remain on Hwy 14, through Palmdale, Lancaster, Mojave, and Red Rock Canyon,
until the Inyokern turnoff.
- Take Hwy 178 east through Inyokern to China Lake and Ridgecrest.
- Approximate Driving Distance: 140 miles.
