Who We Are
The Research Division at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA, serves as the central research group for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). We maintain a core team of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, most with advanced degrees and over half with PhDs.
Emphasis is in three distinct areas that are dedicated to basic and applied research: Physics, Computational Sciences, and Chemistry. These areas include Optics, RF & Material Physics, Image & Signal Processing, Materials Chemistry, Polymer Science & Engineering, and Analytical Chemistry. In addition to three branches, the Division encompasses other offices that support the S&T mission. They include Technology Advancement, Industry Government Liaison/Tech Transfer, and Environmental Chemistry.
Our laboratories are state-of-the-art and include facilities that are unique within the Navy.
We also maintain a Technical Library with reference, literature search, and electronic
database services.
