High Tech Work: Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)

At the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) the functions of the Weapon System Support Activities (WSSAs) and the Software Support Activities (SSAs) are carried out within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). NAWCWD provides systems engineering leadership for 11 IPTs. These IPTs integrate people possessing a variety of critical skills with technology and best practices to develop and deliver quality, reliable mission system and weapon system capabilities to the fleet when and where needed. They provide full lifecycle support (concept exploration to post-deployment) for development and integration of mission systems (avionics, electronic warfare, weapons, and mission planning suites). The IPT personnel are directly involved in all phases of product development: Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design, Development, Verification, Validation, Operational Test, Fleet Introduction, and Post-Deployment Support. The IPTs at China Lake include the F/A-18 (A/B, C/D, & E/F) & EA-18G Advanced Weapons Laboratory (AWL), AV-8B, H-1 (AH/UH), JSF, F-22, Special Missions (EP-3E), Advanced Systems, and the Naval Unmanned Systems Integration Activity (NUSIA), while the IPTs at Point Mugu include the EA-6B/Airborne Electronic Attack, TACAIR Electronic Warfare, and Naval Mission Planning Systems.
