Source Maintenance and Recoverability (SMR) Codes

Guidance

Goals: The program goal is to provide Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability (SM&R) code policies and procedures that relate to weapons systems and equipment acquired by and for the TEAM.

Policy: "The NAVAIRINST 4423.11 is cancelled." See the paragraph below for information on the draft revision. Currently, SM&R code policy for the Naval Air Systems Command is provided in the joint service policy document, OPNAVINST 4410.2A, and the NAVSUPINST 4423.29, and supplemented with the Navy SM&R Code Guide, NAVSUP P-719. A chart summarizing the approved SM&R structure is provided here to provide a one page look at the current SM&R codes. Consult either instruction, or the guide, above, for the latest SM&R code policies and procedures.

Policy Updates/Interpretations/Revisions: Click here to ask for an interpretation of SM&R code policy, or to recommend policy changes. The NAVAIRINST 4423.11 has been cancelled, and the latest updated draft revision, NAVAIRINST 4423.11A, is available for review/comment. Submit any comments or recommendations concerning that draft to our POC under the contacts link.
