Acquisition Logistics Support Plan (ALSP)

Homepage

Acquisition Logistics Support Plan is to provide planning information for NAVAIR, using managing and planning support for aviation weapon systems and equipment and to establish, document and maintain program Acquisition Logistics Support.

DOD Regulation 5000.2-R, (Important note on the 5000 series), approved 5 April, 2002 states in C2.8.3.1. "Product Support Management Planning." Production Support Management Planning. The PM, in coordination with Military Service logistics commands, is the Total Life-Cycle System Manager. This includes full life-cycle product support execution and resource planning responsibilities. The overall product support strategy, documented in the Acquisition strategy, shall include life-cycle support planning and address actions to assure sustainment and to continually improve product affordability in initial procurement, reprocurement, and post-production support. The planning shall promote an integrated acquisition and logistics strategy for the remaining life of the system or subsystem. This Performance Based Logistics (PBL) approach to product support shall be reexamined at least every 5 years during the product's life cycle, or with greater frequency, depending on the pace of technology. The ALSP along with Acquisition Strategy documents is NAVAIR's method to meet this requirement for Product Support Management Planning. It is the policy of NAVAIR to require adequate logistics planning. The document which identifies this planning is the Acquisition Logistics Support Plan (ALSP). NAVAIR 3.1E is currently developing an instruction to identify the ALSP requirements. The instruction will include a companion guide available on this web site.
