Executive
Summary
Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) Program is being developed as a system level replacement for the present Mk 7 Shipboard Arresting Gear System. The AAG is intended for backfit into CVN-68 class carriers and forward fit on CVNX class carriers.
The AAG provide new operational capabilities, including the ability to safely and efficiently recover both heavier/faster aircraft and lightweight unmanned air vehicles (goal) that will enter the Fleet in the coming years.

Preliminary Design Review

MS B will authorize System Demonstration phase, including manufacture of a production representative EDM for DT/OA testing at NAVAIR LKE with deadloads and
aircraft.

MS C will authorize Production and Deployment phase and Low Rate Initial Production quantities sufficient to support OPEVAL testing (permanent installation) and up to 4 additional ship systems prior to the Full Rate Production Decision Review.
