NAVAIR Point Mugu is one of the ten Naval Air Systems Command sites that provide cost-wise readiness and dominant maritime combat power to make a great Navy/Marine Corps team better. An integral part of the Naval Air Warfare Center, the facilities and work force located at Point Mugu provide efficient deployment of new weapon systems through a unique combination of its co-located laboratories, ranges, weapons test squadrons and the Navy’s operational test organization. As the recognized Electronic Warfare (EW) Center of Excellence for the Naval Aviation Enterprise team, Point Mugu supports the Fleet EW community from concept development to year round EW Intelligence operational support. Additionally, Point Mugu supports fleet training and tactics development, particularly large scale, major exercises, including Fleet Battle Experiments on the Pacific Sea Range. Products and Services NAVAIR Point Mugu has a 36,000 square-mile instrumented sea range, including San Nicolas Island, to support both developmental and operational test and evaluation of missiles, free-fall weapons and electronic warfare systems. Expertise includes Sea Range operations, mono- and bi-static radar cross-section measurement; surface and air target operations, and test and evaluation engineering. Fleet training is supported for live-fire weapons launched from aircraft, ships and submarines. Examples of weapon systems supported include High-speed, Anti-radiation Missile (HARM), Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW), Sidewinder, Sparrow, Tomahawk, Phoenix, AMRAAM and Standard Missile.Weapon System Integration and Electronic Warfare Center of Excellence: NAVAIR Point Mugu provides integration of weapons, electronic warfare systems, and avionics onto tactical aircraft. In-house expertise ranges from requirements definition through mission system design and developmental testing, trainer/support equipment upgrades, operator/maintainer handbooks, mission planning, fleet support and foreign military sales. Operational Electronic Warfare intelligence analysis and software updates are provided to the Fleet on a year round basis. The Point Mugu team provides real-time EW reach-back support for U.S. Navy airborne tactical forces during wartime and peacetime operations. NAVAIR Point Mugu provides a wide range of synergistic EW support to TACAIR platforms, Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) platforms, self-protect and stand-off jammers, infrared countermeasures, radar warning receivers, chaff and decoys, threat simulation, intelligence/sensor engineering, and jamming technique optimization for Naval, USMC, Air Force, and FMS customers (aircraft supported include the EA-6B, EA-18G, E-2C, MH-60, F/A-18, JSF and other platforms). With current emphasis on network centric warfare, the concept of weapon/platform integration is being extended to battle space integration. Point Mugu is interconnecting virtual, real, and hardware-in-the-loop facilities across NAVAIR and at other services to develop and test network interoperability between various weapons systems. In-Service Engineering: NAVAIR Point Mugu provides engineering and training support to the fleet for in-service weapons missile test equipment and missile, weapons, and electronic warfare support equipment. Expertise includes maintenance (logistics support, inspection, repair), documentation (maintenance manuals, assembly manuals, technical publications), supply support, training and fleet on-site engineering technical support. People NAVAIR Point Mugu employs more than 1600 civilian employees, 240 active duty military personnel and 145 on-site civilian contractors.Facilities Point Mugu is a tenant command on Naval Base Ventura County, a component of the Navy Southwest Region, San Diego, Ca.
