JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. – A Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst Support Equipment Program Officer (SEPO) was awarded for exemplary service in support of the fleet during a ceremony on the Lakehurst side of base June 25.

Scott Wheeler received the Navy’s Meritorious Civilian Service Award during a visit to NAWCAD Lakehurst by members of Program Executive Officer for Air Anti-Submarine Warfare, Assault & Special Mission Programs (PEO(A)).

The Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award recognizes exemplary performance, outstanding achievements and contributions of value to the U.S. Navy, and is the third highest honorary award under the Department of the Navy Civilian Awards program.

Wheeler was nominated by PMA-276 for his performance as the PMA-276 Support Equipment Program Officer (SEPO).

“He [Wheeler] led with a vision and his approach to professional development resulted in measureable improvements from PMA-276’s Support Equipment Team and allowed them to effectively support both production and sustainment Support Equipment workload,” said Gerry Mollo, NAWCAD Lakehurst Program Management site lead, while reading the award citation.

“He personally focused on immediate and long-range Support Equipment requirements that would benefit Fleet readiness,” said Mollo.

Wheeler gave credit to his team and their support in receiving this recognition.

“The award is certainly not myself alone,” said Wheeler. “It’s the team you see here. It’s a reflection of their efforts and their dedication."
