COMMAND MASTER CHIEF TERESA E. CARROLL, USN

    A native of San Diego, Calif., Master Chief Carroll enlisted under the delayed entry program in July 1975 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Fla., in November 1975
.
While serving on active duty, Master Chief Carroll’s commands were the Naval Alcohol Rehabilitation Center (as staff) in Jacksonville Fla., Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group Pacific in San Diego Calif., and Naval Station Rota Spain. Afterward, she attended a 16-week course at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute for transfer to the Organizational Effectiveness Center Mayport, Fla., and Patrol Wing Eleven at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.

    She ended her active duty enlistment achieving an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist Qualification and the rank of First Class Petty Officer in March 1988, at which time she entered employment with the Department of Navy, federal civil service, as a budget analyst then budget officer. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1998, she was accepted into the Acquisition Intern Program and completed her federal civil service while employed by the Naval Space and Warfare Systems Command in December 2002. She was then recruited by the state of Oregon Employment Department as a field office manager until her return to active duty status.

    Enlisting with the Navy Reserves in December 1988, Master Chief Carroll served with the Advance Based Mobile Maintenance Facility Alpha, Jacksonville, Fla.; Naval Aviation Logistic Command Southwest Asia, Bahrain for Operation Desert Storm; USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) reserve unit Mayport, Fla.; and Harbor Defense Command One One Zero (HDC110) San Diego, Calif., as the Command Master Chief deploying with the unit to Kuwait in June 2002. Upon her return she attended and graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief Course in Newport, R.I.

    She then transferred to Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron Three Three (NCWRON33) to prepare the unit for mobilization and her second deployment to Kuwait for Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom in February 2005, returning February 2006. Soon after her return, she was selected for a one year IA assignment as the Command Master Chief for Camp Lemonier, Djibouti Africa. Afterward, she enlisted back into the Navy on permanent active duty. Her assignment as Command Master Chief for Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light Four Seven (HSL47) in October 2007 includes a successful WESPAC, OIF/OEF seven-month deployment with the squadron as part of the Carrier Strike Group Nine battle group on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN72), and transition to the SH60R aircraft and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Seven Seven (HSM77) preparing them for a 2010 deployment.

    Master Chief Carroll capitalized on her prior sea service qualifying as a Damage Control Training Team member for the ship, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and recently re-qualifying for Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist in the CH-60 platform. Her awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other service and unit awards.

    She is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of Fleet Readiness Center Southwest.
