IMSO: The International Military Student Officer

Welcome to the International Program!

The United States Naval Test Pilot School IMSO, Mr. Richard "Rich" Harris, has over twenty six years of combined active duty and civil service to the United States Navy. He is here to see to the administrative and professional needs of our international student body.

For Prospective Students: The IMSO is your gateway to the USNTPS experience. Rich will ensure that you are checked into the program and that you are thoroughly briefed on local services, housing and all of the many concerns you may have about getting you and your family settled for your time in Southern Maryland.

For Security Cooperation Officers around the World: The IMSO is your point of contact to assist you with questions and concerns from the time the invitation message is released until the student is back home.

For International Test Directorates wishing to send students to the United States Naval Test Pilot School: Please contact the Security Cooperation Officer at the American Embassy in your country for further information on sending your test professionals to the world’s finest test pilot training.

Arrival and local information for SCO’s and Students:

After Hours - Excluding Arrival/Departure Instructions: Students should schedule their arrival during business hours. Those arriving in the area outside normal working hours should first check in to their accommodations and check in to the school on the next business day between 0800 and 1600.

Billeting: On base billeting is not available. Government family quarters are not available onboard NAS PAX River for international military students (IMS). Off base government family quarters may be available in the local area. Assistance will be provided in finding suitable housing for IMS. Apartments and single family homes are relatively easy to find but can be expensive. Getting furnished lodging is more difficult but is sometimes available. Again, on base quarters are not available. All students must make arrangements to stay off base.

Dependents: Families are an integral part of the Test Pilot School experience. While our students spend many long hours each week studying, their spouses are a welcome and active element of the Test Pilot School experience and we highly encourage spouses to accompany the international student for the long course of instruction.
